Here is another theme we did at R2B July 6th - 10th. This was our Teddy Bear/Picnic Theme and all of this is just a sample of some of the fun things we did.
COLOR & SHAPE RECOGNITION

MATH ACTIVITIES as well as color recognition!

We read Ten In The Bed, and then sorted, graphed and tasted teddy grahams. We also used teddy graham crackers to make 10 in the bed as our craft project for the day.
We painted these bears with homemade pudding after reading Brown Bear Brown Bear, What Do You See? I set some of the pudding aside and we got to have an extra snack!

Our word wall. As we sang, this promoted counting to ten skills in the younger children and helped the older kids with number word recognition and also with review of their dolch words.

We played the Days of the week game, which clearly has a teddy bear theme to it. To tie it into the picnic theme we used fruit counters (yellow banana, red strawberry, blue blueberries, and a green apple) instead of the game pieces. This game helped children with calender skills, color recognition, counting skills, and social skills. We play it often!
I made these bears for the "Basketbear" game, afterwards, the children got to keep the one with their intial on the backside.

Some of our beary special furry friends.

Cupcakes Miss Renee and her children brought, how cute, and they were so YUMMY!

Those were some very hungry bears. Those lucky bears had juice, chicken, corn and even pie! We had peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwhiches, ants on a log (but with cream cheese instead of peanut butter), watermelon and chocolate milk.

Pin the heart on the on Teddy.

We played "Bear Bounce". The children LOVED this and wanted to play over and over. This was their favorite game of the day.

Teddy Bear headbands the children made.
We played Musical Bears, just like muscial chairs, the children grabbed for a bear, and each turn a bear was removed, and a child was out.
